A training for two hundred and fifty youth organizations registered with the National Youth Commission on Sexual Reproductive Health, Leadership and Management by the Commission and the Ministry of Youth Affairs was held at the Commission's Basement on Tuesday 24th May, 2016.
Chairman of the National Youth Council, Ibrahim Prince Tholley said, for young people to have respective roles in society they must exhibit positive leadership skills. He said youths must be prepared to convince leaders that they are capable to take after them.
Quintin Salia Konneh of Marie Stopes International said it is a novelty to synchronize Sexual Reproductive Health and youth development. He said youths should pay attention to their health as it is key to achieving their career goals.
The Director of Youths at the Ministry of Youth Affairs Rev. Charles Moinina said there have been serious challenges in the educational sector because of high teenage pregnancy. He also noted that drug abuse has been damaging the psychosocial make up of youths. He said for young people to transform their mindsets they must have the time, zeal and commitment.
Mr. Anthony Koroma, Commissioner National Youth Commission said youths should focus on what they need. He maintained that opportunity comes with preparedness. He encouraged them to cascade the training to their communities. Among the topics discussed were: Management functions, Basic Accounting and Finance Management, Branding, Barriers Affecting Reproductive Health and Sexually Transmitted Infections.
