Graduate Internship Programme 2017 Certification and Launch of

Graduate Internship Programme 2018 organized by the

National Youth Commission with support from United Nations Development Programme

The 5th batch of graduates enrolled under the National Youth Commission’s UNDP support Graduate Internship

Programme have received certificates of completion at the Commission’s basement in Freetown.
132 interns were placed in the 2017 GIP in various public and private institutions across the country.

Over the four months period, the interns had first hand work experience from their Placement Institutions.
As the Commission realizes low retention rate this year from Placement Institutions,

only about 22 were retained for employment. Abubakarr Jalloh one of the very lucky interns have been employed as Internal Auditor at the Bo District Council. Mr. Jalloh expressed delight to have gone through the programme ‘it was a good programme and I am happy to get a job from my institution.’
Since its inception to date over 923 interns have been placed and follow-up on the programme has indicated that 70% have achieved permanent jobs.
Country Director for the United Development Programme in Sierra Leone Mr. Samuel Doe delivered the keynote address and formally launched the Graduate Internship Programme for 2018 pledging his institutions continued support.
